Three myths about ethanol in petrol

Does ethanol in petrol damage the engine?

Not at all. Recent studies confirm that more than 99% of petrol engines in Germany can run on E10 without any problems. Car manufacturers have been optimising their engines for this fuel for years, as it burns more efficiently.

Does ethanol increase petrol consumption?

Hardly. ADAC tests show that the differences in fuel consumption are practically immeasurable.

Does ethanol reduce engine performance?

On the contrary: ethanol has a significantly higher octane rating than petrol. A higher ethanol content therefore increases the octane rating and thus the performance. That is why racing series such as NASCAR have been relying on ethanol for years.
